Financial experts can help shape the financial narrative at the heart of IP litigation — but only when counsel knows how to select the right expert, engage them early, and collaborate effectively throughout the life of the case.

In this practical, experience‑driven session, presenters Rick Davies and Andew Moeser will walk through how to evaluate potential experts, manage costs, avoid common pitfalls, and strategically leverage expert input from pre‑litigation through trial. Attendees will leave with concrete tools to strengthen their case theory, streamline discovery, and get the most value from their expert.

Rick Davies is a Principal at Valuation and Litigation Support Services (VLSS). For the past 15 years, he has been providing expert evidence and litigation support services to the Canadian legal community. Rick practices exclusively in the quantification of economic damages, business valuations, and forensic accounting investigations.

Andrew Moeser is a partner at Lenczner Slaght LLP. Andrew’s practice is primarily focused on intellectual property litigation. In patent matters, Andrew has experience with industries such as pharmaceutical and biologics, information technology, and oil and gas. In trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters, Andrew has represented clients in disputes relating to software, gaming, and beauty products.
